Repair information for Samsung clothes dryers.

Dryer no longer heating

Hi, so I have established that the thermostat needs to be replaced but the problem is, I took apart the entire machine and cannot, for the life of me, find the thermostat. I took all four sides off of the machine but stopped at the bottom, which I assume is where the heating coils are (although I found coils on the other side). I feel like Samsung doesn't"t want it's dryers to be repaired. Does anyone have an idea where I might find the thermostat?

Thank you in advance.

Renee

Hi Renee,

In order to give you an answer that has any relationship to reality, we'll need to know the model number of your Samsung dryer; they make a lot of them and we can't tell you without knowing which one you have.

If you're talking about the High Limit thermostat, you can usually find that in the lower right side of the dryer below the drum. It'll be connected to the heating element. Assuming your dryer is a front load:

  1. Unscrew the back screws towards the top
  2. Unclip and pull off the control panel from the front
    1. Be sure to disconnect the wire harness before fully removing
  3. Remove the front screws that hold the front panel at the top
  4. Open the door and remove the screws in the front
  5. Use a putty knife or a flathead screwdriver to depress the tabs that lock the front panel while pulling it forward toward you
    1. Disconnect the door switch wire harness before fully removing
  6. Disconnect the moisture sensor wire harness from the bottom near the door
  7. Remove the screws on the heating element housing in the lower right of the unit (should be a silver-looking box)
  8. Remove the bracket and pull the heating element out
  9. The thermostat should be connected to the heating element.
