Fridge not getting to set temperature

Hi, I have a Samsung model rf4287hsrs. I recently noticed the fridge temp is not getting to the set point. I had it set to 34 degrees and the temp sensor built into the fridge says 34 degrees. However when I check the temp of milk and food from the fridge they are at 40 degrees. So I put temp sensor on each shelf. Top shelf is 44 deg, middle is 41 and Bottom is 38. Could the temp sensor developed a bias?

Hi,

The sensor could go faulty and give incorrect readings.

Try the self diagnostic during normal operation and check if it shows that the sensor is OK or not.

No doubt it will so the next thing is to actually test it yourself.

Here's the troubleshooting page which shows how to test it and here's the voltage/resistance chart but to determine if it is the sensor or perhaps the control pcb you may have to test the sensor in isolation i.e. disconnect it from the control board and then test it using an Ohmmeter.

The sensor is a 502AT type so check if it measures the correct resistance value at what the temperature is when you test it. You may need to have a thermometer on hand.

If it is faulty use this link to find your exact model and then search for "sensor" to hopefully find out exactly where it is located in the refrigerator. Then use the manufacturer's part number for the sensor to find suppliers that suit you best.
