Lid sensor not working properly

I have a problem with the lid sensor.

When i close the lid, the device won't go into the sleep mode. I have tweaked with the windows settings and the BIOS and it's not from either of them. I have downloaded the lenovo diagnostics tool and it revealed an issue with the lid sensor.

when i close the lid, the device won't go to sleep, but if i give it a couple of knocks on where the magnets are, it sometimes would shut and go to sleep.

i have opened it and the magnets are in place but i couldn't find the lid sensor around the battery. I think the sensor might be located in the screen but I still don't know.

Hi, I checked my Flex 5 82HU 14ALC05 (AMD System). Hall sensor is located on the right side of webcam board on screen top bezel - overlapping area on palmrest right side of touchpad ending.

Verified by running magnet everywhere. To fix the hall sensor, either repair the right side of the board, or replace webcam pcb (with equivalent one which has mic). Part 5C20S40568 - > pcb identifier HALL 1, looks to be 4pin.

Hi,

If the magnets are in place, did you check directly opposite the magnets if the sensor is there? It shouldn't be too far away from being directly opposite to where the magnets are. With the laptop turned on and with the lid open run a magnet over the area where you think the sensor should be and check if the screen turns off -i.e. simulates the lid closed. If the screen turns off you're close to the sensor. Hopefully it will be working long enough for you to find it if you have to tap to make it work.

I can't find a free schematic download online but IF you have a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14ARE05 and IF the motherboard model number is FLMA0 LA-J710P then here's a link to a supplier that you can buy it from.

The schematic won't show the location of the lid sensor but it will show you the component on the schematic drawing along with its component type details etc.

If you can't find the sensor by what is printed on the sensor itself as shown by the schematics then you should be able to track down where it is by seeing what other component it connects to and tracing back from it.

Just what I'd try.
