Chromebook left corner falling apart

I dropped my chromebook a few times and the left corner of my chromebook screen has started falling apart. It is a school chromebook and I do not have the money to replace it. Any way I could fix it? Here is a picture showing the part that is breaking: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yxogIhO...

Hi @gohawks4600,

It’s a bit hard to see in the image you posted but the problem is either with the Strip Cover part # 5CB0T45070 or the LCD cover part # 5CB0T70888 or both.

The suppliers shown above are examples only to give an idea of what the part looks like and what the cost may be. Search online using the part number only (for whichever part is broken) to get results for suppliers that suit you best..

Here’s the hardware maintenance manual for the laptop.

Go to p.44 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to disassemble the LCD module. This details how to remove the strip cover and also once the LCD panel is removed etc the LCD cover (aka lid) can be replaced.

Both parts are made of some sort of ABS plastic or polycarbonite type material so it may be problematic if it can be repaired by gluing the broken sections as some adhesives react badly with these and don’t hold. Unfortunately you won’t know until you try them. You could use an epoxy based adhesive perhaps to mend the broken piece(s). Search online for an epoxy adhesive that is made to be used with most plastics. Here’s a link that may help with this.
