Phonograph Tone Arm Operation Issue

Tone Arm immediately lifts and returns to its rest when I try to play an album. Basically, what the tone arm does at the end of the album happens immediately after you lower it to play the album. I have moved the tone arm to the end of the album to try and “reset” it to no avail. No idea what else to do. I assume it’s an internal electrical issue but figured I’d ask before trashing it.
