Screen dead after opening up the lid for greater than 75 degree.

I have dropped my 2018 13” Macbook Pro to a carpet floor.

Now I can open up the lid until approximately 75 degree without any display problem. But the screen dead once the lid is opened up to further degree. I have brought to the repair store and they said it is the problem of some cables.

I’m wondering how I can fix this, by myself?

@andrewsawesome Thanks. They only mentioned cable, but I can't remember what cable it is. But definitely connecting the screen.

@Sheldon After opening the screen over 75 degrees, did the screen backlight go off as well?

The best test is to plug in an external display to make sure the tilting of the internal doesn't loose the GPU's signal.

An alternative test is to place a flashlight against the screen at a sharp angle to flood the screen with light when the screen is tilted so the image disappears at that point you should still see the faint image of the desktop and its icons.

That would tell you the backlight ribbon cable is damaged. But that won't fix the problem as replacing the cables in this display are really not doable.

In this case, the cheapest option would be to use the repair shop, as it sounds like they have the skills needed to replace the display cables.
