Computer not booting up
Laptop does not boot up half of the time, when it does it freezes or displays this.
Note I have Ubuntu installed.
Try booting the laptop using a standalone program (loaded onto a bootable USB drive) that doesn't require an OS to run.
If the laptop boots OK consistently and the program works then the problem is with the OS or the HDD.
I know that the program I linked is a memory test program and I don't think that there is a problem with the memory, (although i suppose there might be?). It's just that this program doesn't need an OS or HDD and also it tests a lot of other parts of the motherboard just by it working OK

I might reflow the solder on the motherboard.
I think that's rather drastic unless you've tried everything else e.g. check / replace ram try new HDD reload OS etc as you could lose the motherboard if you get it wrong. Just my view
Remove power, via cable and battery pack. Press on button for several seconds. Reattach power, should boot after 10 seconds.
