Why does my screen not remain closed?

My MBP screen won’t remain closed — it “pops” up after closing it.

This began right after I took it to the Apple Store to replace some missing screws on the bottom cover. I’m not seeking to assign blame here, just get my screen to remain closed.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I hope you are a good Sherlock!

Find a good flat surface as you need it to reference (a single slab of stone or glass top table). Make sure your feet are all present and are uniform (no off the wall solutions)

With the system sitting are the feet all setting firmly on the table surface? Does it wobble? With the lid open you might be able to straighten a slight bend (more than a 1/16th of an inch will require a taking the bottom cover off)

Now you’ll need to take the bottom cover off and locate the screws which hold the screen. Follow this guide MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Late 2013のディスプレイアセンブリの交換 After doing the first four steps, jump down to Steps 9 & 10, then jump to Step 12 just loosening the six screws, then tighten them up again did that fix things? If it did button it up and check again.

@danj -- thank you for your thought-full and excellent feedback! i followed your guidance up to a point where I ran out of guts and tools to continue. I caved. I brought the MPBook to a good tech friend who discovered the issue wasn't the screen but the battery. I have had to replace my battery as it began to enlarge and that was the cause of the screen not closing. Just wanted to get back here and let you know your answer was awesome and the problem's proximate cause was not in the screen / cover but in the battery. Thank you for your answer!
