Is the front face unlock serialized?
I was wondering if anyone has replaced the front camera/face unlock assembly? If so, is it serialized like the iPhones? Or can you replace it, and it still work?

I repaired five pixel four XL that had a damaged motherboard and I put new ones from Aliexpress on them, one of them did work with their facial recognition but the rest didn't.
I exchanged the camera of the phone that worked with the rest of the phone and it worked on all of them but however if I put the other cameras they didn't work.
The conclusion I have come to is that there are some unlock modules that work with any phone but others can only be used with your factory plate.
I put some photos of the facial recognition module in case someone is useful. This module works with all the phones I have.
The error that comes out is registration not completed the certificate has expired

At the end I bought new camera modules on Aliexpress, I replaced them and I work all theteléfonos.porsome reason the 4 camera modules are not working .
Conclusion, if the facial recognition does not work and gives that error message, the unlock camera must be replaced with a new one.

As far as I know it shouldn’t be locked to the phone. If not I’m sure iFixit would’ve pointed it out.

I recently changed the front camera with the full assembly. Now face unlock shows certificate expired. Everything works except Thale face unlock. Did try to “learn” my face but shows that error so I can't even register my face

I figured ifixit would point it out, if that were the case. However, from my research, I'm getting conflicting results. I think I'm just going to get two Pixels 4’s, and see what happens
