I bought a used Mac mini. It was working fine when i checked before buying it. But when I turned it on at home, there was some short circuit in the power supply (I was on the login screen when this happened). The AC-in connector is damaged on the power supply and I can see burn’t plastic near the connector.
Will it work if i just replace the power supply? How do I figure out if anything else was damaged?

Lets back up for a sec ...
This sounds like your AC outlet is incorrectly wired! Get an outlet checker to verify your outlet is properly wired Receptacle Tester
I'm suspecting your common and hot wires are reversed!
That is when the Common White wire is going to the Brass screw instead of the correct location which is the Chrome screw! And the Hot Black wire is going the Chrome screw, when it needs to be on the Brass screw!
So when you plugged in your mini you shorted out between the Hot and Ground! (Wired with Common in the breaker panel) Bang! A puff of smoke and melted plastic.
At this point it you’ll need to replace the power supply and hope that takes care of it.

This incident happened in my old house and I have moved out since then. But if i remember correctly, plugging in my mac mini was the only time i used that particular AC outlet in 2 years. That is probably why i never came across this faulty AC outlet before.

Good you likely don't have the issue in your new home. But its also bad as the next person woh moved in is at risk of being electrocuted!
Please make the effort to contact the new owner or renter so they can get it fixed. I would hate to have someones death weighing on my conscious.
Do you think i should buy a mac mini power supply and replace it? Will it work?
@danj Yes, I will contact the new renter right away!
@tanmaylagare - I did forget one last thing, you'll also need a new AC power cord as well! I wouldn't trust that old cord, time for the trash bin.
