2001 Ford Explorer with 4.0 overdrive light was flashing did not want to downshift now does not pull at all what could possibly be the problem

Flashing light tells you that you have a code in the computer, will need to get that information to get more help. Will it drive if you manually shift it into 1 then 2? Check fluid level according to the owners manual.
