Xperia Z3 Compact Power Button Problem After Battery Replacement

Greetings! I’ve been following the article to replace the battery for my Z3C. All went well, battery was replaced. But the power button seems to have a problem: phone would not react to it.

I was able to start it by connecting it via USB and fastboot. It starts OK, calls, camera, network is working fine. The only two things that don’t is power and camera buttons. I could not give a thing about latter, but I need the former :)

Any advice what could I do? Does it smell like a mobo damage or the main flex? Inspecting the cable did not yield any visual damage.

Just to answer my own question - it was the flex cable indeed. After the replacement, the phone works good as new.

Andrey Zhavoronkov  if all of this worked before then I suggest that you double check your work. Check the ribbon cable connector, make sure none of the pins are bend etc. If the connector is clean and no bend pins it could definitely be the ribbon cable. As you probably already know Sony does not have schematics for their phones so anything deeper than the ribbon cable will be extremely tough to repair.

Thank you. I've double- and triple-checked my work. I hope that it is the ribbon cable in the end. I'll order the replacement part and see if that helps anyhow. I find it a bit strange that the volume keys are working, but not power/camera.

Remember that a bad flex cable can wreak all kinds of havoc. Hope that is the issue
