Hard drive replacement gone wrong
After replacing my hard drive in my dell laptop the backlight stopped working please help
The Dell Inspiron 17R-N7110 has a 17.3-inch screen with a 1,600 by 900 resolution, equipped with an Intel Core i3 or i5 processor. The 17R-N7110 has a 90WH battery lasting at least 7 hours and has a variety of connection options which include USB ports, 3-in-1 card reader, VGA, Ethernet, and Wifi ports.
I’m assuming that you removed the battery from the laptop before dis-assembling it to remove the HDD ;-)
With the laptop turned on try shining a torch at an angle close to the screen to check if you can detect an image at all.
If you don't see an image then you may have to check your work to make sure that the LVDS cable is still connected OK on the motherboard as you may have disturbed it when removing the keyboard or the palmrest assembly when accessing the HDD.
If you do see an image it still might be a loose LVDS cable as I think that the backlight power is also fed through the same cable or if it is OK and you didn’t remove the battery you may have caused a problem with the backlight power supply on the motherboard by accidentally touching something that you shouldn’t have.

Your keyboard power-ribbon cable is most likely not inserted properly, if at all. I’d bet it is not inserted and locked down all the way. If you’re not sure what I mean, it is the small, 1/4 inch wide ribbon cable alongside the main keyboard ribbon cable and MUST be in place FULLY, straight and locked down with the locking flap on the motherboard connector.
