No backlight, could it be this component on the logic board?

Device: Macbook pro 13” 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo a1278 Mid 2010

The laptop works fine on external tft screen and I can see the desktop with a flashlight on the native screen.

Tried a different LVDS cable and the problem persists.

The logic board doesn’t show any sign of burnt components apart from a diagonal stripe on a component that looks like metallic square with cut corners. The link is a photo I took and the component is on the left edge, has a black dot and it’s numbered 330. I’m not sure whether the stripe mark was there before or not. Is this component related to the backlight circuit?

Could this be the issue causing no back light?

Thanks in advance

The line is a magic marker line drawn by someone, likely a QC person.

You’ll need to check the backlight fuse F9800 which is located here:

It either has a white dot or the letter P on it.

I recommend you review the logic before you replace it as often times when they blow there is an underlining cause!

Thanks for the reply. The backlight fuse as well as all other components on the logic board show no sign of damage. The only strange thing I could find was that magic marker line on the one I've photographed... If the logic board is fine, what else can it be? The backlight? Can it be replaced or does it mean I need a new screen?

Thanks in advance

If the fuse is OK, then you you likely have a deeperciciut issue which will need a more work to isolate. This is often repairable but it will take someone with the ability to trace out the logic using the schematics and boardview drawings

Even if you can isolate the bad component you still need to get the parts. I would recommend you locate someone near you who has the deeper skills and tools to fix this for you.

Otherwise the only other option is replacing the logic board.
