Wi-Fi issue - restarting

My iPhone (6 gen 64gb) restarts when I turn the WiFi on. Not at every time, some days I can use it normally.

When I turn the WiFi on and the issue is going to appear, the first signal that I see is the WiFi strength suddenly became low and then it disconnects from my home network. Then about 5 or 10 sec the phone restarts.

If I use the cellular data nothing happens, but if I try to use the WiFi mostly the time this issue happens.

Can anyone help me?

Thank you!

I suspect there is a hardware issue with the WiFI/BT circuitry. on the logic board. Once it is asked to power up, the phone dies. Has this phone been in contact with water recently? Water tends to infiltrate easily into the iPhone 6 and it’s most likely destination is the upper backside of the logic board, exactly where the WiFi IC is situated.

You should open up your device, remove the logic board and inspect it for signs of corrosion or heating. The WiFi IC is the silvery rectangle at the top of the board (backside). If you see corrosion or other signs of water, then:

  • Put your board in a container with >90% isopropyl alcohol and let it sit for a while.
  • Use a soft brush, like a toothbrush and lightly brush away any corrosion you see.
  • Rinse in alcohol and repeat.
  • Let it air dry for a day.
  • Re-assemble and hope for the best.

Ultimately, it may require a micro-soldering repair.

Hi,

No, the phone hasn’t been in contact with water and excessive humidity. And it really seems to be a hardware issue, because about 2 weeks ago the phone begun rebooting excessively when I turned it on (and only stop this after a long time in the charger).

I recently started to facing some Bluetooth minor issues when the Wi-Fi was on, but the BT is working well anyway. There are so many panic full logs in activity section, and I can’t decrypt it…

I bought a new Wi-Fi antenna to replace it and hopefully try to fix the problem. If it's a Wi-FI IC issue I can only replace it for a new one, or I need to do something more? My dad works with micro soldering but he doesn’t have tried a Wi-Fi IC replacement before.

Thank you!
