Water Damage mbp what can be done
My mbp has been diagnosed by a local shop as unrepairable. I’ve been paid by insurance but is there anything I can do with the old one?

If you’re never going to use the old one again and you want to get rid of it, here are some options:
- If you want to do the responsible thing and recycle it, go over to Apple’s website to check out their Apple GiveBack program. Get an estimate to see how much you can receive if you recycle your MacBook Pro.
- You can’t sell the device as it has been water damaged. Water damage renders the device basically useless. This is because water damage usually damages most of the components inside of the device.

Great answer! However, taking it into an Apple Store isn't the greatest option because the "geiniuses" will just tell the OP to buy a new Mac...
@ajcooke01 Yeah you're right! So never mind that part.
You know you can always say the big magic word "NO I don't want a new MacBook Pro". They will still take the gift and recycle it properly!
Do not take it to the Apple store and do not let anyone recycle it. That is an absolute farce of a response by people who have no idea what they are talking about.

I repaired one of these this evening that had been water damaged resulting in No wifi. The device is virtually identical in composition to that of the 2016 model.
Please do not recycle the device, I guarantee someone will be able to fix it for you. If you are in the US, I recommend rossmann group in New York, they are fantastic.

@cultercomputers - Danny it all depends on how bad! I had one show up which was sitting on a boat for a month before they brought it in. Salt water damage it was just not repairable it was almost crumbling in my hands! I've saved a few fresh water splashes.
