How to reset the BIOS password?

I know this has been asked and answered for some other models but I can’t find any discussion for this specific model. I, like an idiot, set a BIOS password and forgot it after not using my laptop for a few months. I can still use it but I currently have Ubuntu installed, and I would like to return to Windows. Unfortunately I can’t do this because of the BIOS password.

I’ve popped off the back cover of the laptop but I don’t know where to go from here. I’m assuming I need to find the CMOS but I don’t even know where to begin, and I can’t find any pictures or guides regarding the CMOS on this model.

does anyone know how to get to the bios setup menu if my laptop is already showing seystem locked

Hi,

This is from p.24 of the service manual for a Lenovo Yoga 720-13IKB (15IKB) laptop

Supervisor password:

A supervisor password protects the system information stored in the BIOS. The user must enter the supervisor password to get access to the BIOS and change the system configuration.

Attention: If you forget the password, there is no service procedure to reset the password. The system board must be replaced for a scheduled fee.

This is incorrect, they will not do it for you and tell you to replace the board but it can be done with external programmer similar to this video: https://youtu.be/ONVBk-Bp8rw

Remove CMOS battery wait for 30 minutes it will reset your password for bios if this didn’t worked then try for reset the password using motherboard jumper there will be three pins in the jumper. the middle pin is connected to one of the pin you can check and connect middle pin to the other not connected pin after removing jumper and wait for some seconds and now reinstall jumper in its initial position

Do you know where the CMOS battery would be located on this model, or at least what it looks like so I know what I'm searching for before tearing the laptop apart?

The battery may be of different color as shown in video look for the same figure battery detached in the video from the computer and unplug it from the laptop after removing battery you can also try to soft reset laptop by switch of laptop and remove battery and power connected to the laptop. after it press power button for a time of 60 seconds it will drain all the power in laptop and reset your computer

Amily Grey thanks for the help. But My laptop has not cmos battery, at least I did not identify any. I have disconnected the Li battery, I pressed the power button for 60 seconds but the bios continues with password. They say that you can make shorting some pads on the logic board, but I do not know where.

Alguna recomendacion porfa!!!!
