If nothing else, download the user manual from here [http://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-pr...|Owners manual] It includes instructions for the removal of all parts.

M17 R4 SSD card is under the top cover. You have to remove the cover/touchpad/keyboard to get to it.

Hi, already have user manual and nothing there .
I think there is an overall confusion right now about what model your computer is and where the SSD is. I suggest that you remove the cover of whatever model computer you have and post some pictures of what you see. That way we can at least all be on the same page.
M17x R3 and R4 are not M17 R series.
M17x R3 and R4 have a mini pci slot (only sata2 speed) for ssd , not M2 slot

Hi, and thanks' for the reply.
I have the M17 R4 this is a older model. You posted the 17 R4. 17 R4 is a newer model.
I do hate it when they reuse the same model name with a slight difference ;-{
If you have the older model then I believe your system only has a support for dual 2.5" SATA drives not M.2.
The M17x R4 model in-between this one and the one in the guide has a single mSATA M.2 bay just under the bottom cover.
Older model yes. And it does have a M.2 ssd.

Try checking out the notebookcheck review of the M17 R4. Notebookcheck usually has a partial teardown in their review. In this case, there's some photos of the bottom of the laptop disassembled. Check it out here:

Hello, could not find anything about notebook check.
It is listed in the user manual I got for my M17 R4 in 2021 with an NVME m.2 and 307 graphics card. Not sure which one you got but check this out.
