What does the refresh button do on settings/battery?

On the top right hand corner there's a refresh button. I've accidentally pressed it and it says on battery ***seconds. It changes every time its pressed. I'm having trouble charging . instead of 100% fully charged it shows 94% or 96%. Could pressing the button have affected the charging?
