Cam is losing time setting

My Nikon D5000 is losing the time settings while changing the accu EN-EL9A.

I think the internal back-up battery (capacitor) is faulty.

Have someone a picture where this component is shown in the cam?

Hi,

Here is a link to the ifixit guide on how to replace the viewfinder in the camera. This should help in gaining access to the motherboard to see if the backup battery is mounted on it somewhere.

@acalvus, you should click the "accept as answer" button on jayeff's answer.

There was a discussion on this in an older thread.

How to replace the internal battery?

The 'time battery' was deemed 'not serviceable' and the solution was a new camera if I read correctly.

Hi @avanteguarde ,

The link you posted is about a Nikon D600. This is about a Nikon D5000.

Nevertheless there seems to be a 'battery' of some sort (perhaps it is a capacitor) shown in the image of Step.21 of the D600 teardown. (looks like a coin cell with leads attached - therefore it's possibly a capacitor.

Cheers. ;-)

@jayeff, whoops. I don't suppose there is an iFixit guide for blurry vision? :-)

This issue is simply solved by factory reset:

To restoring Nikon D5000 to its default settings, just hold down the [Information button] button and the [Information edit button] button together, until the control panel turns off briefly while the camera resets itself to the factory default settings. I hope this method will surely help you. If still same issue happens then check Nikon D5000 Manual for help.
