arctic silver 5 thermal paste
Is putting arctic silver 5 thermal paste on my CPU going to benefit my MacBook Pro? And if so what's the best method of application and how do I do it?

Arctic Silver 5 optimizes heat transfer from your CPU to the metal of your heat sink so it dissipates the heat more quickly. This lowers overall temperature after running a while, which allows for improved performance of your Mac.

• Clean the surface first on both CPU and heat sink surfaces with rubbing alcohol.
• Put a super thin layer on the CPU. The idea is you just want enough to fill in imperfects of the surface.

Here's the IFIXIT guide: How to Apply Thermal Paste
You may find alcohol alone won't remove the old paste completely. I find the Arctic cleaner is a good last step in the cleaning process.
I do recommend you first run your system for awhile with TG Pro (full version) running so you have an idea what your system is doing before redoing the paste and then compare running the same apps afterwards.
