Touch Id not working suddenly

So a guy brought me his phone after he tried to replace the screen himself. When he brought it touch ID and auto brightness was not working. I checked the cable under a microscope and did not see any breaks in the touch ribbon cable.

So I then cleaned all of the connectors and tried again with the same result. I reset the phone back to factory with the same results. I then put the phone into recovery mode and did a upgrade and woola it all worked.

I gave the customer back the phone and he used it for a few days and now touch ID isn't working again and he said the screen is glitchy. He reset it back to factory and touch isn't working but the screen is working better. I had him put it in recovery and try doing an upgrade and touch still is not working.

Has anyone encouneeded this or have any suggestions?
