Why is my speaker not charging

I tried cleaning it with a ear tip soft part but it won't work I think the charging slot is messed up because when I I charge it it won't charge

Mine is brand new as a xmas gift. I charged it the light was on and the speaker is not working.

Did it appear OK in your phone's BT list?

Did you hear the BT pairing tone from the speaker?

Connect your phone to the speaker's line in socket using a stereo audio cable with a 3.5mm stereo plug at each end to verify that the speaker works.
