caller ID does not wor

When I go to check caller ID on my Uniden phone it says it is unavailable, It always worked up to a week ago

My caller-ID worked fine until 3 weeks ago then it stopped.

Check with your phone service provider that the feature is still activated for your number.

My phone did the same thing caller id stopped working. I was getting ready to go purchase a new phone after I checked my phone line out with a older phone and so it was not centurylink problem, Anyway I unplugged my uniden phone and also unplugged the power to it. And then installed my Uniden Phone back to power and phone line. Works great and no problem now. So anyone having this problem simply unplug the power pak or unplug the power cord let the phone sit a couple minutes and then re install. I will test it for awhile and if it stops working again I will re post on here to let everyone know what is going on with it. Thanks Hope This helped someone and saved a purchase for a replacement phone. Take Care......

When people call there is no caller ID. It shows up “private number” for everyone who calls. Please help

I purchased a Uniden 8355 series about 6 weeks ago.The caller ID number shows but not the name of the person.What is the sense in that.Can I return the product because my old Uniden had the full incoming call ID.I got in touch with TPG (provider) my payments are up to date for that facility.Somebody please help.

Hi,

Check to see if your Caller ID service is working.

Using a mobile phone, call the Dect 6.0 phone number and see if the Caller ID information is displayed. Allow the phone to ring and see if a number appears in the Dect handset display window. You do not have to answer it.

If the number appears then disappears, according to the user guide You may have to change the line mode. Contact Customer Service for instructions

If no number appears, after all your checks, as Caller ID is a subscription based service provided by the phone company, get the phone's account holder to contact the phone company to verify that the service is still being provided to the phone.

What is the make and model number of the phone?

Have you got a Caller ID feature on your phone service?

Only asking as usually for landline services, Caller ID is a subscription service and is not automatically connected to the service unless asked for and paid for by the account holder of the phone service.

If you haven't got Caller ID showing as an item in your phone bill then most probably you haven't got it as a feature on your phone service.

If you have got it and it doesn't work, contact your phone service provider and verify that the Caller ID facility has been enabled on your service.

The phone service provider does not provide the name of the caller, only the number is forwarded to your phone. They cannot be expected to know the name associated with every number that may call you

If only the number shows but not the name then check if the name and number is entered in your phone’s Phonebook (see p.34 of the user manual)

Sometimes it is necessary to enter the full number including the area code with the name, if the name doesn’t show with the number. It depends on what number is actually being sent by your service provider i.e. number only or area code+ number.

It has to match what is in the phone’s Phonebook to show the name and number in the display. It is the phone that enters the name in the caller ID display along with the number sent by the service provider.

The 8355 series supposed to be the Top of the range & I cannot get the name of the person on caller ID just the number on incoming calls.This is very disappointing being that the older model worked well.I wish I had known this before I bought this model.I pay the supplier for this facility .So will I be able to exchange this model for one that has the full caller ID? even if it costs more.Ive had this phone now for I month.

I tried what you suggested Jayeff several times.Once again it worked on my old Uniden.I have been in contact with my Provider(TPG) twice & they said they have not changed anything,& that the 8355 series may only show the incoming ID facility with the number & not the name as well.Doesnt make sense.

Perhaps the name and number only appear on the base station and not the handset?

Just verifying that if you enter say "John Smith" with a phone number of 1234567890 into the phone's Phonebook, when he calls all that is displayed is the number 1234567890 and no name directly displayed above the number on the base station display, is this correct?

I've never known of a service provider that forwards the name along with the number for Caller ID. Only the number is forwarded and the name is added by the recipient phone or Caller ID device. That way people can assign their own preferred names or nicknames to the number for easier ID.

It is the same with mobile phones. If the name and number is not in the mobile phone's Contact list, then only the number will appear on a call and not the name with it.

Hi Jayeff,thanks for all the advice.I have tried everything but unfortunately nothing works.Even on the base unit just the number & not the name is shown on the incoming ID,same as the handset.Name & number is entered in the phone book.I am a 78 year old male & I don't want stress like this.Once again I say my old phone displayed Name & Number.Can I return the phone & get a full refund.I am very very disappointed with the product.I will also consider seeking advice from the Office Of Fair Trading.

The problem is different for me. The Uniden DECT 6.0 phone has caller ID feature and have stored many numbers. But I am not getting the phone number on the screen when some one calls. I live in India and have caller ID service from BSNL India.

Please guide me howthe format fr storing the numbers and the procedure to be follwed off line/on line

How should I program the device to show the incoming number ?? That is the problem.

Hi,

How long do you let it ring before you answer? Give it about 10 seconds just to be sure. Also what message is there on the screen when a call comes in?

If no number appears, as the number is sent by the phone company, first call them and verify that you do have Caller ID activated on your service.
