My first ever repair on an iPhone was replacing the battery on my iPhone 6. Once reassembled, everything seemed fine except that the sleep/wake button no longer worked. Upon investigation, I noticed that I had damaged one of the lines on the flash/microphone/power button assembly cable, no doubt the one that carries button clicks... so that will probably need replacing - the most complex thing to do, it seems!!
I have since discovered, however, that the contactless payment function no longer works... so I suspect that I have damaged the NFC antenna or something like that. When the phone was open, I did lose one of the 1.2mm screws - the one identified in step 33 of iPhone 6の電源ボタンケーブルアセンブリの交換. I had removed it in error, knew that I had dropped a screw couldn't find it and only noticed upon inspection that it was this one that went missing...
Is it likely that this screw is the cause of my non-functional NFC? The URL above does talk about this being the screw that secures the antenna interconnect to the logic board... but nothing looks wrong there. Does the screw need to be present to make the connection, or does the interconnect need to be screwed down to ensure a good connection?
Any help most gratefully received!

SO, last night I replaced the flash/microphone/power button assembly cable, and my power button works again! Camera seems fine too, although maybe not completely horizontally aligned...
Haven't tested NFC yet.
Killed my flash, though :(

Since when do idevices have NFC?

@pccheese, they've had them since the intro of Apple Pay. Apple Pay is essentially a neutered NFC that can only do Apple Pay. This is why Android Pay and Apple Pay work on the same systems. If you hold an iDevice back to back to an Android NFC enabled device, it will trigger an NFC transmission and the iDevice will try to start an Apple Pay transaction. No joke.

Sweet. To bad it doesn't work for general NFC applications though. BTW @avanteguarde, you qualify for my team and I would like it if you join. It's called "Master Techs (invite only, not exclusive)." I can't figure out out to invite, but I think if you find it you can probably send a request to invite.
