my tablet all the sudden had light shadowing appear on the screen. i restarted it to try to see if it would clear up, but now screen is black and only the bottom symbols on the tablet light up. tried to restart it with the power and volume buttons but didn't help. please help me out here. i only got this a year ago.

Did you buy this new or used? And have you ever had a repair performed on it before?

i bought it new and never had it repaired done to it. in the past i have had issuses where the power and volume button have solved them but this time its not helping.
It sounds to me like your LCD is going out. If you're within your warranty period (1 year from date of purchase) I would suggest contacting Samsung and asking for a service repair.
