Added new thermal compound to cpu but the MacBook still heats up

Macbook Pro 13" late 2011 model

intel i5 cpu, intel hd 3000 graphics, 8GBs ram, 480GB ssd

I added a fresh application of Prolimatech PK-3 thermal compound to the cpu. Thing is that I also removed a white looking thermal compound or soft white thermal pad from the chip dyes that were underneath a small black heat sink next to the cpu. I'm not sure if that is the reason why this macbook is still heating up.

It gets very hot underneath the case and on top as well by screen. Plus the fan starts spinning very loudly as the macbook gets hotter. I don't know what I did wrong but I'd like to fix this heating issue. Any ideas?

When you take it apart and see the fan, is the entire air flow path clear and free of dust? You may need to check in places that aren't readily available to view just to make sure.

I'm going to assume you have correctly applied the thermal paste? a very thin layer, spread evenly etc? - what was the reason you initially removed the heatsink anyway?

Those thermal pads you removed - buy replacements and fit them!!

If all of that is in order, and you are still over heating - have you monitored your CPU usage? is it unusually high for no apparent reason? could you have been infected with some malware which is causing a heavy load without your knowledge? Are all the programs you are using fully paid for and legit?
