Why does a static shock reset the clock?

When I get a static shock in my bedroom the clock resets to blinking !2:00. I dob't even have to touch it for this to happen. Is there a way to stop this?

You could find a way to ground yourself before you touch it.... I don't know why an electronic device is so sensitive to a shock like that though. is the clock properly grounded?

As far as I know it's grounded properly. I've never had anything like this happen before. Yes, I try to ground myself beforehand.

Hmmm see it does not make sense.. A static shock to the outside should be fine. It shouldn't shock at all.

You're misunderstanding what I'm saying. And the reality of it makes even less sense. I am saying that I don't even have to touch the clock. I am like five feet away from the clock and when I stand up from my chair or something and the metal from the chair shocks me, the clock resets. There's no contact at all with the clock.
