I just did surgery on my sons furby and fixed this problem. His would move and no sound would come out. Keep the Furby on and go to the right side of the Furby which is where the speaker is located. Cut a small slit in the fur, small enough that your kids won't notice. if you look underneath the fur you will see the speaker. It is plastic and it has a whole bunch of holes in it. Right under the plastic there is a membrane sort of things. I found it when I took a nail or something small and pokey that fit through the holes and gently gently pushed on the membrane in certain spots it would start making noise again. Must have a short or something in it. Once you find the spot that let's it start making noise again find a very small, about a centimeter long, machine screw which is the kind that don't have a point on the end of them but are flat instead. Screw it into the hole until it pushes against the membrane and leave it there, and that should keep it talking. This should keep your kids happy

Thanks mate that worked a treat, I didn't have to cut the fur though I just unscrewed the bottom and pulled the fur up.

Thank you SO MUCH. It talks)))!!! I also pulled the fur up and didn't cut it.

Carlos Ortega, here is my answer to a similar question " I would get to the "tummy switch" and check the circuit from there. You do have a couple of choices here. Check the switch, then the speaker. Check the connector for both. You will need a multimeter to check those. Follow the schematic to work on your Furby's voice, and check on here for directions on how to skin the Furby." Hope this helps, good luck.

Easy as pie.

Remove fur fixing plate around the battery enclosure. Carefully roll back the fur to reveal the speaker housing.

Using a long thin object, carefully push into the upper holes and prod the speaker membrane. A t some point you will hear the Furby's voice. Keep a note of that hole then take a cotton bud (q-tip) and cut the buds off. Now using that straw push into the hole that you identified. Snip bud and super glue in place. Result.

This really helped! I have no technical skills and am not much good with a screw driver. Our Furby Boom's audio stopped. Using this post as a guide, I went ahead with Furby surgery.

I removed the screws that hold the fur down. (6 or so screws). I pulled up the fur. I inspected to see if there were any obvious wire breaks. With the batteries in and Furby on, I located the speaker. There was a soft plastic cover with a bunch on holes and the speaker is below that.

Carefully, I stuck the mini screw driver thru one of the holes, and could hear the Furby! I took a QTIP and cut the end off it. I put the QTIP thru the same whole, until it touched the speaker and I could hear it. Then I cut the QTIP end that was sticking out, so that it was closer to the plastic covering. I taped it in place.

Roll the fur back i to place. Reattach the the ring/screws. VOILA!!

Thank you for ur post!

Thank u so very much! My son was heart broken once I changed the batteries and furby still would not make noise. The reset and pressing the tongue did not work, I was scared at first to open up the furby but I toke a chance and like astroboom73 voila! The manufacturing company should still be made aware of this problem. Our furby was $50 and we just got him in May. Thank you Neil Porwol!

Thank you! Just found my daughter's furby that I got her 2 years ago and had the same problem, I tried your solution and it worked! She's going to be so excited!

I like Old Turkey's idea, but it might actually be easier to just fly to China, find the 12-year-old who made your Furby and ask him to fix it. Hope this helps, good luck.

So thankful for this site, my daughters furby lost it's sound also, very disappointed 6 yr old, and mum after paying £55 for it, a year and a half ago! Was just about to pull it apart to do the speaker thing then read samsam326 reply, and hit it a couple of times on the side and wallah, we have a chatty furby again, happy child again, and mum with a headache lol thanks all :)
