black horizontal line on screen

No shock on computer whatsoever, it appeared suddenly. It's crossing my screen on the lower quarter of the 13" screen. Have tried to press the screen as read on posts, it does not affect the line not its appearance. It does not appear when I connect the computer on another monitor (but still is on the computer's screen). Have checked software update, reboot, safe mode, PRAM reset, etc.

What can I do before bringing it to the Apple Store?

Were you able to resolve this issue? I have the exact same problem on my 2013 Macbook Air. Tried PRAM reset and nothing helped... Thank you!

@mayarcarroll - jcm never responded to any inquiry so we'll never know what happened with his system. How about creating your own problem so we can help you. Post a question with your details and what you know and we'll try to help you.

If you're going to the Apple store nothing more... bring the description from above along it will be helpful to the technician. It would appear that the fault lies in the screen its self.

Sounds like your screen is bad. Black lines often imply the driver logic on the LCD has been damaged. Other than replacing the entire display there is little one can do to fix this. A sharp blow to the cover can dislodge the logic or break the LCD screen which cuts the leads to the logic. Hopefully you have AppleCare as this is an expensive repair.
