I have a similar problem with my SD450. What happens is that when I insert a 32gb memory card it always tells me " memory is locked". I've adjusted the little tab on the card but nothing works. ( I can use a lower gb card and it works okay)

John Allen, make sure that you are using an SD card and not an SDHC. also, the camera was tested by Canon with 2GB cards only, so it is possible that your cameras firmware does not read 32GB, that would explain while your camera " can use a lower gb card and it works okay.
