Why is Cinema 30" full resolution not supported any more?

Also, I should clarify that I have reset the PRAM without success. I am still stuck, throw anything you've got to it, I will appreciate it greatly! :)

Actually, Lemerise, you were absolutely correct. It turns out that after THREE trips to the Apple Store "geniuses", and two more to an Apple Certified Repair, after a collective of more than 6 people telling me that "There is no other connection possible between your MBP and a Cinema 30", that dinky connector we just sold you for $29 is the ONLY one there is", after all of that... I finally discover that there IS another connector, specially for the Cinema 30" monitor. the "mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter", part Number MB571Z/A, which solves the problem. Just as it said in the article you pointed me to.

You will still feel raped when the Apple Store guy tells you that a crappy piece of cable and plastic costs... $99 (you can buy another monitor for that), but that is just "Job's ambition to be Bill Gates" at work. Thanks a LOT!
