Sony speaker fails to charge
The Bluetooth device will not respond and is not showing as if it is charging.
Faulty power adapter
When a power adapter is plugged into an outlet, and the charge light is not on, the adapter is likely defective. In this case, you may need to purchase a new adapter.
Steps to replace the power adapter:
Step 1: Turn off and unplug the Bluetooth speaker
Step 2: Remove the old power adapter
Step 3: Connect the new power adapter
Step 4: Plug in the power cord and turn on the speaker
Faulty battery
Make sure the speaker is responding to the charger. This is observable when the charging light switches on after the speaker is plugged in. Regardless of charging time, if the speaker only turns on when the charger is plugged in, the battery is likely defective and needs to be replaced.
Buttons are unresponsive
The buttons on your Bluetooth device won't respond or appear broken or missing.
Faulty power switch
If the power switch is not working despite a full charge, it may need to be replaced.
Buttons are stuck in
If a button cannot be depressed, something may be stuck underneath it.
Steps to clear the area under the button:
Step 1: Remove the button and make sure nothing is lodged there
Step 2: If nothing is visibly lodged beneath the button, that area may need to be cleaned. If something is lodged, remove the object.
Step 3: Replace the button once the area is clean, and try again
Weak Bluetooth connections
Your Bluetooth speaker will not connect to your device and remains in its current state.
Not within the range
Modify the device's position or location. Remove any covers from the device or speaker to increase the communication range. Try moving the device if it is currently in a bag or pocket. Decrease the distance between the devices to optimize signal transmission.
Steps to correct the speaker's range:
Step 1: Move the speaker closer to the source
Step 2: Check for interference
Step 3: Restart both the speaker and the source device
Step 4: Reset the speaker
Connection error
If the device or speaker has multiple other devices it has paired with, it may be necessary to reset its pairing memory. Doing this would clear any irrelevant Bluetooth storage from the device or speaker in question, allowing for a better Bluetooth connection.
Distorted audio output over speaker
The speaker is not playing the music at the desired volume or is producing a weak/crackly sound.
Too far from device
Make sure the speaker is within 30 feet of the device. The sound may seem distorted if something (e.g. a wall) is between the two connected devices or if they are too far from each other.
Steps to insure the speaker can connect clearly to the device:
Step 1: Make sure the speaker is within 30 feet of the device
Step 2: Eliminate anything blocking the space between the speaker and the device
Step 3: Remove anything that may be covering the speaker or the device
Damaged speaker
This issue may occur if a portion of the speaker is damaged or broken. The device would need to be disassembled to examine which portion of the speaker is causing this issue. Once the defective part is discovered, replacement of the part may be necessary to restore proper output of sound. If the motherboard or the microphone is defective, follow these replacement guides to replace either of them: motherboard or microphone.
Battery draining significantly
The speaker's battery drains very quickly after turning it on or unplugging it.
Defective battery
Your Sony SRS-XE200 may have a defective battery if it won't charge or shuts off without warning. In this case, the battery may need to be replaced, but make sure the battery is not exposed to an unusually warm environment before doing so. The battery may drain quicker if exposed to excessive heat. Use this replacement guide to replace the battery if necessary.
Too much heat in the environment
If your speaker is exposed to too much heat, the battery may drain quicker than normal.
Steps to fix this issue:
Step 1: Move the speaker from a warm environment to a cooler environment
Step 2: Plug in the speaker to restore the charge
Step 3: Unplug the speaker and turn it on
Step 4: Monitor its battery usage to check if the issue has been resolved
Faulty charging port
After changing the battery, if your Sony SRS-XE200 still won't charge, it may contain a faulty charging port. Use this charging port replacement guide to replace the speaker's charging port.
