Not Charging
The Sonos Roam will not charge even when it is is plugged in.
Incompatible Charger
The 5V/1A (5W) power adapters do not have the capability to charge this speaker. These are common adapters, but do not work for this device. Do not exceed the 5V/2A (10W) adapter. 5V/1.5A (7.5W) adapters will also be able to charge this device, but just at a slower speed than the 10W adapter.
Faulty USB Cable
Use the USB-C cable that comes with the Sonos Roam speaker when you purchase it. If you no longer have the cable that came with the speaker, any USB-C cable should be able to charge it. Other USBs are not as powerful and can cause the speaker to be drained of battery power.
Device Not Plugged In
Double check that the speaker is plugged into the outlet. If it still isn't working, try a different outlet because the problem might be with your outlet and not the speaker.
Device Overheating
Make sure speaker is in a cool location where it is not sitting in direct sunlight for a long period of time. If none of these steps have solved your charging issues, please visit the battery replacement guide.
Not Turning On or Nothing Working
If your Sonos Roam seems to be frozen you can try a standard reboot if that doesn’t work then you can perform a force reboot.
Speaker Firmware Issues
Try resetting the speaker. Make sure it is unplugged, hold the power button down for 15 seconds, and plug it back in. Let the speaker charge once you have completed this.
Need for Standard Reboot
- Disconnect your device from charging cables and remove it from wireless chargers.
- Hold the button on the back of the device for up to five seconds or until you hear the power-off noise and the light turns off.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Press the power button on the back of the device to power on.
Need for Forced Reboot
Press and hold the button on the back of the speaker for 15 seconds or until the light above the Sonos label turns green. If the issue is not resolved after the reboot, please visit the large ribbon replacement guide.
Goes Offline with Wi-Fi or Audio Coming In and Out
The speaker is unable to connect with wifi or maintain its connection with wifi. This might also be causing the audio to go in and out due to the unstable connection.
Faulty Wi-Fi
Check that your Wi-Fi connection is working. Try going to google.com and see if the page loads. Also might want to try a connection tester such as https://www.speedtest.net/ to make sure your connection is good and stable.
Interference with Other Devices
Move the device that is connected to the speaker closer to your Sonos Roam to ensure connection is stable.
If that doesn't help, try relocating your Sonos Roam and connected device so that nothing is interfering with the connection.
No Sound Even Though Connected
The speaker isn't having any Wi-Fi or bluetooth connection issues, but no sound is playing from the speaker.
Muted Volume Setting
Make sure the volume on the speaker itself is turned up. Also make sure the volume on the device that is connected to the speaker, such as your phone, is turned up.
Audio Source Problems
If no sound continues to come from the speaker, then disconnect the Bluetooth. Use the device that is connected to the speaker to disconnect by 'Forgetting the Device'; now pair the speaker and device again. The sound should play once reconnected. If no sound plays after completing this step, please visit the speaker module replacement guide.
Distorted Sound
The sound coming from your speaker sounds off or diluted.
If no sound plays after completing this step, please visit the speaker module replacement guide.
Bluetooth Not Connecting
The Bluetooth connection between your device and Sonos Roam are having difficulty connecting.
Faulty Bluetooth Connection
Make sure your Sonos Roam is in Bluetooth mode and showing a blue light. To do so, press and hold the power button for two seconds to initiate Bluetooth pairing mode. If the issue is not resolved after completing this step, please visit the outer circuit board and inner circuit board replacement guide.
