Computer Overheating

Dusty Fan
Dust accumulates in the laptop over time, clogging fans and blocking air flow. This dust can cause ventilation problems, trapping heat and preventing your laptop from cooling itself properly. To fix this, use a compressed air duster to carefully blow the dust off the vents and fan.
Minimal to no thermal paste
Thermal paste is located between the heat sink and the central processing unit (CPU). The main role of thermal paste is to eliminate air gaps or spaces (which act as a thermal insulator) from the interface area in order to maximize heat transfer. To fix this, clean the old thermal paste from the heat sink and CPU. Apply a bead of new thermal paste directly in the top center of the CPU. Gently set the heat sink back in place and tighten screws to lock down the heat sink.
