Motorola i886 won't turn on

No matter what you press the phone will not turn on.

Hold down button

You may not be holding down the button long enough. The keys are stiff so make sure you hold down the red colored button for at least three seconds to turn it on. You will see the Motorola and Nextel logo before the main menu loads.

Drained battery

Your battery may need charging. Plug it in to charge for 10 minutes and then try again. If that does not work, wait an hour before trying again.

Battery Connection

If your phone is still not turning on, then the battery may not be connected to the phone properly. Open the back of your phone to make sure the battery is properly in place. Then replace the case and try again. If that does not work, follow the Motorola i886 Battery Replacement guide to remove and reinsert the battery.

Dead battery

If the previous solution does not help, your battery may be dead. Follow the Motorola i886 Battery Replacement guide to remove and replace the battery.

Phone will not charge

You have plugged your phone in but it will not charge.

Incorrect charger

You may not have the correct charger. Check the end of the charger that plugs into the phone and make sure the charger properly fits into the slot. If it is a match and your phone continues not charging, it may be broken.

Broken charger

Check the charger cable for any damage along the cord and the points that plug into the phone and outlet. Clear the ends of any debris and plug it in again. If your phone still does not charge, your charger may be broken and will need to be replaced.

Batter not connected

Your phones battery may not be inserted properly. Follow the Motorola i886 Battery Replacement guide to properly remove and reinsert the battery.

Bad battery

If you have tried the above steps and your phone still will not charge, your battery may be bad and need replacing. Follow the Motorola i886 Battery Replacement guide to insert a new battery.

Slide-out keyboard key(s) not working

A key or keys on the slide-out keypad are sticking, not working, or difficult to make work.

Keyboard damaged

The keyboard may be damaged and will need to be replaced. To replace the keyboard, follow the Motorola i886 Slide-out Keyboard Replacement guide.

Main keyboard key(s) not working

A key or keys on the front keypad are sticking, not working, or difficult to make work.

Keyboard damaged

Picture/Video quality is distorted

Photos/videos are too blurry, bright, or dark.

Zooming in and out

Before taking a picture or video, you can adjust the cameras zoom by pressing the up arrow key until zoom is selected and adjust the zoom by pressing the left or right arrow key to change the zoom settings between one and two.

Effect and Scene Settings

To change the effect and scene settings press the up arrow until effect or scene is selected and with the left or right arrow change it to your desired setting.

Picture/Video resolution

Your picture or video resolution setting may be set to a lower option. To change the resolution while using the camera or camcorder, press the upper left button on the main keyboard to open the menu. Using the arrow keys, highlight the desired setting and select it with the menu button. Use the arrow keys to highlight your desired resolution and select it with the menu button.

Broken screen

If none of the above are the cause and your screen is visibly cracked, broken, or damaged in another way, it will need to be replaced. Follow the Motorola i886 Screen Replacement guide to install a new screen.
