If your Lenovo ThinkPad L460 doesn't charge or power on, the power indicator doesn't light when plugged in, or the adapter feels hot or emits a buzzing sound, this guide may have a solution.
Faulty Power Adapter
- Inspect for visible damage
- Inspect for frays, bends, or burn marks on the adapter cord.
- Replace the adapter cable if any damage is visible.
Adapter not providing the Correct Voltage
- Test output with a multimeter
- The Lenovo adapter should output ~20V DC.
- If there's no reading or it fluctuates, replace the adapter cable.
Faulty Adapter Unit
- Try a known Lenovo adapter cable.
- If another adapter cable works, your original is defective and should be replaced.
Damaged DC Charging Port
- Inspect or replace the DC jack
- Check for looseness or corrosion in the power port.
