JBL Go 2 Fails to Charge
The JBL Go 2 speaker stays stuck on the red charging light or never fully charges. This page will offer some common solutions to this issue!
Charging Port Is Damaged or Loose
The JBL Go 2 speaker relies on a secure charging port connection to receive power. If the charging cable does not fit properly, feels loose, or the speaker does not respond when plugged in, the charging port may be damaged or detached from the internal board. Inspect the charging port for visible damage, debris, or movement inside the housing.
The charging port is located beneath the rubber protective flap on the side of the speaker. Open the flap and gently insert a charging cable to check for excessive movement. If debris is present, carefully remove it using a non-metallic tool such as a toothpick or compressed air. If the port feels loose inside the speaker, internal repair or port replacement may be required.
The Power Button Is Not Responding or Stuck
The power button is not responding or stuck, which is sometimes due to worn contact or debris. When trying to solve this problem start by ensuring the speaker is fully charged, then try holding down the button for 10-60 seconds to restart it. If the button is physically stuck, try pressing it harder or using something small to clean around it.
Now if these fail to work, the power button may need replacing. Replacing the power button requires disassembling the speaker by removing the front grille. You will need to unscrew the housing and replace the faulty rubber button membrane.
Battery Needs to Be Replaced
If the speaker continues to not charge even while using a working cable and power source, the internal battery may not be able to hold a charge or accept charge. Over-time, lithium-ion batteries degrade due to age, exposure to heat, or continues charge cycles. Due to this, the speaker may show unresponsive to chargers or even turn off when plugged in.
The internal battery is located inside the speaker enclosure and connected directly to the main circuit board. To replace the battery, power off the speaker and remove the outer casing by unscrewing the hidden screws beneath the rubber covers. Carefully separate the two, and disconnect the battery connector from the board. Remove the bad battery and install a new, compatible battery in the same position. Reconnect the battery securely, reassemble the speaker, and test the device with a charging cable to confirm proper charging functionality.
