DEVICE IS OVERHEATING

Cell phone get so hot that it powers itself off.

BATTERY

If the back of the cell phone is getting hot, the battery is likely to be causing the overheating and not the cell phone itself. To fix this, do not use it while it is charging and checkup the battery usage to see if any app uses too much battery.

Furthermore, inspect the battery to see if it is warped or bloated; in this circumstance there might be a good chance that the battery is defective and should be replaced.

SOFTWARE

If the cell phone itself gets too hot, it might have too many things running. Such as processes and applications that start running since the cell phone is powered on. To fix this, find out the applications that may be running on the background and disable or uninstall them.

No rest can also cause minor software problems which can often be solved by simply restarting the phone.

UNRESPONSIVE TOUCHSCREEN

When the cell phone is frozen or will not power on or off.

BASIC FIXES

Clean the screen with a dry cloth and make sure the screen is not wet or dirty. Also make sure your hands are not wet because that can also make the screen unresponsive. If the cell phone contains a case or screen protector, remove them.

SOFTWARE

If the cell phone is in a good condition and there is no physical damage, it may be caused by software issues preventing the screen from functioning. Restart the phone to fix software glitches.

REMOVE SIM CARD AND MEMORY CARD

Turn off and unplug the device. Remove the SIM card and any memory card the phone may have. Then turn the device on again and check if the touchscreen works. If it does replace the cards one at a time to figure out the cause of the problem.

SLOW PERFORMANCE FROM THE DEVICE

If the interface seems unresponsive, apps take longer to open or it just isn't the swift device like before.

KILL OPEN APPLICATIONS

Press the square box on the bottom left and press the “trash” button and close down all non-essential apps. This has always been a key step as it clears out your ram.

Also, if you see any apps that are of no use delete them, as it frees out the space in your phone. You should aim to have at least 1GB space left. You could also do this by deleting text messages, photos and music.

RESTART YOUR PHONE

Restarting your phone everyday clears out the memory and can often fix unruly apps. The occasional power cycle helps keep Android ticking over.

You could also force restart the device by pressing the power and volume up key at the same time, when honor logo appears release the power key but hold the volume up key until the menu appears. After that then reset menu appears, press the volume down key to move to another menu, select the “wipe cache partition” , press the power button to so the device will automatically experience a hard reset.

RESTORE TO FACTORY SETTINGS

The most drastic step of all: perform a full restore, which deletes all the data on the device and returns it, in effect, to the state it was in when you bought it. (Except that the hardware components will still have suffered a number of years of wear and tear, of course.)

Make sure you take a back up on a laptop and then press the reset button in settings of the device.

Wi-Fi ISSUE WITH THE DEVICE'

If the device is not able to connect to a Wi-Fi network, getting incorrect password prompt, Wi-Fi settings grayed out, dropping connection intermittently or speeds being extremely slow.

FORCE RESTART

To force restart the device press the power and volume up key at the same time, when honor logo appears release the power key but hold the volume up key until the menu appears. After that then reset menu appears, press the volume down key to move to another menu, select the “wipe cache partition” , press the power button to so the device will automatically experience a hard reset.

SET CUSTOM DNS

Often times, if your ISPs DNS servers are having problems, you can switch to Google DNS or OpenDNS.

To use the google DNS:

Google DNS: Google operates a free DNS service that promises speed, performance and security. To use Google’s DNS, use any of these addresses in the DNS field:

8.8.8.8

8.8.4.4

To use OpenDNS:

OpenDNS: Open DNS is another free DNS service that promises speed, reliability, and security. You can enter either of these addresses to use OpenDNS:

208.67.222.222

208.67.222.220

DISABLE VPN AND Wi-Fi NETWORKING SERVICES

If the decive has been accidently using a VPN, shut it down then try to disable VPN to see if it resolves the issue. VPN can be disabled via the Settings app or launching the VPN app.

Disable the Wi-Fi Networking under Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services. This only relates to the devices location being used for Wi-Fi Networking, so it doesn’t disable Wi-Fi entirely.

BLUETOOTH CONNECTION ISSUE

Sometimes the cell phone will have unsuccessful connections pairing with another bluetooth device.

RESTART THE DEVICE

Restart the device and unpair all other previous bluetooth pairings, then pair the device again. Also make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your android and in the device you want to pair your cell phone with. Keep the device near your phone and let it scan nearby devices. Once the name of the device appears, connect to the device again.

CHECK IF THE DEVICE YOU ARE CONNECTING TO IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM

The device you want to pair with might be the cause of the issue. To check if the device is working you can connect the device to another cell phone or laptop and see if the pairing is successful. If it is successful then the problem is in your smartphone and additional methods should be taken to fix the device. If the connection is unsuccessful by connecting the device to a different cell phone, then the cause of the issue is in the other device.

ERASE BLUETOOTH CACHE AND DATA

The cache files can become altered over time and removing the cache can make your bluetooth run more smoothly. To clear the bluetooth cache, head over to settings and tap on application manager. That is where a list of applications will be shown and from the top tabs, then click on each app in the settings and tap on ‘Clear Cache’ option to remove the cache.
