Tablet Does Not Start
The device has a blank screen, and does not respond to any commands.
Device is Not Charged
Connect your device to the included AC charger that came with your device, and allow your device to charge for a minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to turn on.
Faulty Wall Outlet
The outlet you are using may be damaged. Try using a different outlet to charge your device.
Faulty Charger
Your device may not be receiving any charge from the AC charger. Switch out your current charger with any 2A AC/DC Wall Power Charger Adapter Cord.
Hard Reset is Required
A hard reset consists of holding down the + volume button and the power button at the same time until the HP logo appears on the screen. You will then use the +/- volume buttons to scroll up and down on the system menu that appears, and you will use the power button to select the “reboot system now” option.
Android Error Page
The tablet displays a black screen with a green robot or black screen with a message.
Soft Reset is Required
Hold down the power button until the device shuts down, and then turn on your device. If your device turns on with no error messages, then you are done.
Hard Reset is Required
A hard reset consists of holding down the + volume button and the power button at the same time until the HP logo appears on the screen. You will then use the +/- volume buttons to scroll up and down on the system menu that appears, and you will use the power button to select the “reboot system now” option.
Factory Reset is Required
A factory reset consists deleting all files unique to you and returning your device to the factory settings of a new device. This is done by holding down the + volume button and the power button at the same time until the HP logo appears on the screen. You will then use the +/- volume buttons to scroll up and down on the system menu that appears, and you will use the power button to select the “wipe data/ factory reset” option.
Unresponsive Touch Screen
The screen of the HP Slate 7 Plus starts lagging or becomes unresponsive.
Screen is Locked
If the screen displays a lock icon and does not respond to touch, the screen needs to be unlocked, using whichever method is currently set to unlock the screen.
Too Many Apps Running at the Same Time
If the screen is lagging, check to see all the applications that are open and/or running. Depending on your tablet’s settings, some applications may update automatically. There could also be some downloading occurring in the background that may slow your tablet down. Try closing all the applications or at least the ones that are not in use.
Hard Reset is Required
Perform a hard reset on the device by holding down the + volume button and the power button at the same time until the HP logo appears on the screen. You will then use the +/- volume buttons to scroll up and down on the system menu that appears. Use the power button to select the “reboot system now” option.
Damaged Touch Screen

Issues with Charging the Device
The tablet does not charge or is overheating while charging
Overheating While Charging
There could be restricted air flow. When charging place the tablet on a hard surface. Refrain from putting it under or on blankets, clothes, etc.
Faulty Charger
Your device may not be receiving any charge from the AC charger. Switch out your current charger with any 2A AC/DC Wall Power Charger Adapter Cord.
Loose Charging Port That Will Not Connect
If device will not charge, the charging port could be loose. Follow the replacement guide for loose charging port to learn how to fix this problem.
Damaged Battery
If the troubleshooting steps don’t help, the battery may be damaged. Use the HP Slate 7 Plus Battery Replacement Guide to fix this issue.
No Sound Coming from Tablet
When using your tablet, no sound comes from it.
The Tablet is on Mute
Unlock tablet and go into settings menu. Check the volume setting and make sure the mute is not on. If it is, turn it off.
There is Debris in Headphone Jack
The internal headphone switch could be stuck due to dirt or dust. This may cause you to only hear sounds via headphones, not the speaker. Try using a tuner cleaner spray on the headphone jack. Let any excess cleaner drip off. Then, work the plug in and out of the jack several times and give it a few twists while in the jack.
Faulty Speaker
If you have checked the volume and mute settings and still hear no sound, then the speakers may be defective. Follow the HP Slate 7 Plus Speaker Replacement Guide to resolve the issue.
