My Screen Is Black
Laptop screen stays black, but everything else seems to be running properly.
Faulty Backlight
A common issue for a black screen is a malfunctioning of the display's backlights. A common symptom for a backlight problem is your screen being dim or having a red tint to it. Try putting a strong flashlight towards the computer screen to see if you can see any image. If you can see an image there is most probably a problem with either the backlight's inverter or the backlight itself. The only reliable way to test if the inverter or backlight is not functioning properly is by replacing it with another one and seeing if the screen light up. However, for this computer neither the backlight nor inverter can be replaced by themselves. You should consider replacing the display.
Faulty Display
Another major problem that causes a black screen is a faulty display. Perform a hard reset on your computer before attempting to fix the display itself. A hard reset clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. To perform a hard reset on your computer you must first turn off your computer. Then you must remove the battery, unplug the power adapter, and disconnect all peripheral devices from your computer including USB devices, external displays, and printers. After everything is disconnected you must press the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any remaining energy from your computer. Finally, you must plug back in the power adapter and battery to your computer and turn your computer on. If the hard-reset does not solve the issue you should check your LCD display. Connect an external monitor to your laptop. If your external monitor displays an image there may be a graphic driver conflict with your laptop's LCD display. With the external monitor connected you should install the latest drivers and graphic chip set. To install the latest drivers, you must type device manager on your search box and select "Device Manager". Scroll down to device adapter and press the arrow to see the options underneath. Then right click on "Intel(R) HD Graphics" and select update driver software. If this does not fix the problem you should perform a BIOS recovery. Follow these steps to perform a bios recovery:
1. Turn off the computer.
2. Plug the power adapter.
3. With the laptop off, and the power adapter plug in press and hold the windows key and the B key at the same time.
4. While pressing those keys, press and hold the power button on the computer for only 2 to 3 seconds, and then release the power button but continue to hold the windows key and the B key until the HP
BIOS update screen displays (repeat this step if the computer turns off accidentally because you press the power button for too long)
5. The BIOS update begins automatically and update screen displays. This might take several minutes
6. Finally, after BIOS is complete press enter to continue startup
7. Start windows operating system
If you screen remains black after the bios recovery, then you should consider replacing the display.
Computer Not Charging
Your laptop won't charge even though the charger is plugged into the computer and it is plugged in.
Faulty Power Adapter
Make sure the power adapter is plugged in and the charge light is on. If the light (located on the left side of your laptop) is not on while the adapter is plugged in, then the power adapter is broken. Consider purchasing a new adapter.
Faulty Battery
Make sure that the power adapter is plugged into the laptop. If the computer turns on while the adapter is plugged in, that means the battery is the problem. Therefore, you should consider purchasing a new battery for this model.
Keyboard is Slow or Not Responding
The keys on your keyboard will not respond at the usual speed, or not responding at all.
Keys Get Stuck
If you are not able to press a key, the issue might be located below the keyboard, meaning there could be something holding up the physical part of the key, which prevents its motion. In order to fix this, remove the key and check there is nothing that blocks its movement. In case there is a dust build-up, you might have to clean the area beneath the keyboard. After the area is tolerably clean, place the key back into its original location.
Faulty Keyboard
