Device Will Not Power On

The device will not respond or power on when the power button is pressed.

Device Not Charged

Your battery may be depleted. Plug in the Chromebook, wait for 5 minutes, and try to power it on again. If it still will not power on, you may have a different issue.

Faulty Power Button

Plug in the Chromebook. If there is no response from the device after you press the power button, you may have a faulty power button. Consider replacing the power button.

Faulty Power Adapter

Ensure the power adapter is plugged in and the charge light is on. If the light is not on, and the adapter is plugged in, the adapter is faulty. Consider purchasing a replacement adapter.

Faulty Battery

If your Chromebook is frequently unable to power on when it is not plugged in, and it shows that it is near low charge while it is plugged in, your battery may be faulty. Consider purchasing a new battery.

Device is Overheating

The device emits excessive noise and heat, and struggles to perform basic tasks.

Device is Overused

If the device is used for a long period of time, it is common for it to get hot. In that case, simply turn off the device and let it cool down. You may try to use the device again after a short break. However, if the device continues to show overheating symptoms in a short period of time without over-usage, you may have a different issue.

Environment Condition

In most cases, placing your device on your lap can block the fan overheating the internal parts of the device. Place your device on a flat, hard surface to allow the fan to function. Also, try to use your device in a cool environment to bring its temperature down.

Dust Buildup

There may be dust lodged inside the device that is inhibiting proper airflow. Remove the back panel of the device and look around the inside. If there are dust particles or any other forms of buildup, use a can of compressed air to cleanly expel the buildup.

Fans Not Working

If you open the device and see that one or both of the fans are not easily spun, the fans may be defective. Consider replacing the faulty fan(s).

Device is Running too Slowly

The device is on but runs slowly and/or freezes often

Out of Memory

The device can run slowly if there are too many applications or browser tabs open. Try closing some unused applications and rebooting. If the device is still running slowly after rebooting, try a factory reset.

Faulty RAM

If the device runs too slowly and crashes frequently without having many applications open, you may want to consider replacing the RAM.

Faulty Motherboard

If the device is running slowly, crashing or freezing frequently, you may want to consider replacing the motherboard.

Device Runs, but Does not Display

The device is on but the screen is black or flickering.

Broken Screen

If the device appears to be running (fans are running, keyboard lights are turning off and on) but there is no display, there may be a problem with the device screen. Consider purchasing a new screen. Replace the faulty screen with the new one.

Faulty Graphics Card

If the device boots but the screen flickers on and off, or if there are strange shapes and artifacts that appear on the screen, you may have a faulty graphics card. Consider purchasing a new motherboard and replacing it in the device.

Where to buy parts? Especially battery.

I haven't found anybody that sells an official replacement but it is sometimes possible to get a used one on eBay or it may be possible to assemble your own using a collection of smaller cells from Ali Express. You might be able to find a battery store like Batteries Plus or Batteries And Bulbs that might carry a close equivalent but I wouldn't bet on it.
