Computer won't turn on

"The computer won't turn on no matter what you do."

Primary solution:

- Verify that the power cord is plugged in and is delivering power.

- Hold on button until the computer lights up.

Bad Power Supply Unit

If there is no response from the computer when trying to power on, there may be a problem with the power supply unit. Verify that all power cords are properly connected before attempting to replace the power supply.

Bad Motherboard

If there is no response from the computer when trying to power on, it is a possibility that there is a problem with the motherboard. Verify the other components of the computer are functioning correctly and that they are properly connected together before attempting to replace the motherboard.

Broken Screen

Verify that the monitor used is functioning properly and is correctly connected to the desktop. A light should appear near the power indicator on the monitor to show that power is being received.

Bad Video Card

If the computer starts up, but nothing appears on the screen, the video card may be damaged and need replacement.

Bad RAM

If the computer starts up, but is unable to load the operating system, you need to replace the RAM.

Bad Hard Drive

If the computer starts up, but fails to boot from the disk, the hard drive may be failing. You will need to replace it.

Broken Fans

Miscellaneous Issues

Broken Optical Drive

If the computer won't recognize discs, or won't burn to a disc there is a problem with the optical drive. You need to replace it.

Bad Sound Card

If no sound will come from properly connected and installed speakers, there may be an issue with software. Verify that the proper drivers are installed for your specific sound card. If your problem is not software related, you need to replace the sound card.

unit goes on for 3 seconds shuts off and repeats

My sub woofer had been disconnected from my Dell Dimension 4600 for a while. If I run the Turtle Beach Montego A3D CD that came with the PC, should that fix it?
