If your DJI Phantom 3 Standard is powered on, but the remote control fails to establish a connection, follow this page for possible solutions.
Drone is Turned Off
If the drone is not turned on, the remote control will not be able to connect. Ensure that the drone’s battery is charged and that the power button has been pressed correctly. Look for the LED indicators on the drone to confirm it is powered on.
Remote Control Battery is Dead
If the remote does not turn on or the lights are very dim, the battery is probably dead. Plug the remote into the charger and wait until at least one of the four lights are solid. A blinking light means it is still charging. Try connecting again once the battery is halfway charged. If the remote still won’t hold power after charging, the remote's battery may need to be replaced.
Background Apps Blocking Connection
Some background apps or system processes on your mobile device may interfere with the DJI GO app. Close all unnecessary apps before launching DJI GO. Restart your mobile device if the issue persists.
Signal Interference
Nearby Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth devices, or metal structures can interfere with the signal. Move to an open outdoor area away from buildings and electronic devices. Try reconnecting in a low-interference environment.
Broken USB Cable
Ensure the USB cable is functioning properly and securely connected. A faulty cable or loose connection can prevent the app from recognizing the remote, which may appear as a drone connection issue.
Remote and Drone Are Not Paired
Sometimes the devices lose their pairing. To re-pair them:
- Turn on both the drone and the remote.
- Press and hold the pairing button on the drone until the LED flashes.
- On the remote, press the pairing button (usually inside the battery compartment).
- Wait for the LED indicators to confirm successful pairing.
Firmware is Outdated
If the drone or remote is running old software, they may not connect properly. To check for updates, open the DJI GO app on your phone or tablet while both the drone and remote are turned on. If an update is available, a message will appear at the top of the screen. Tap the message to go to the update section, then follow the instructions to download and install the update. Make sure your mobile device is connected to Wi‑Fi and that both the drone and remote have at least half of their battery charged before starting. Wait until the progress bar reaches 100% and the app confirms the update is complete. When finished, restart both the drone and remote, then try connecting again.
Damaged Internal Components
If none of the above solutions work, internal damage to the remote or drone may be the cause. This could include a faulty main board, damaged antenna, or broken connectors. In such cases, professional repair may be necessary.
