If the camera mechanism on your DJI Phantom 3 Standard does not move, follow this page for possible solutions. Before further troubleshooting, check that the remote and controller are charged and powered on. A light by the gimbal indicates that it is powered on.
App is not updated
The software that controls camera movement can become outdated. Check for updates and try reinstalling the app.
Gimbal is not calibrated
The gimbal may also be not calibrated correctly. Re-calibrate the camera and gimbal by following these steps:
- Power on the drone and controller.
- Open the DJI GO app and tap on the camera icon in the top right corner.
- Open the menu from the top left corner and select “Gimbal Settings”.
- In this screen, select “Calibrate Gimbal”.
- Follow the instructions from there.
A common error during gimbal calibration is to neglect to turn the gimbal wheel left and right after doing full stick movement.
Gimbal is broken or obstructed
Check the connections, if any are loose or broken, depending on the extent of the damage, it may need to be replaced. The ribbon cable can often get damaged and end up needing replaced.
Also check for any debris or anything else blocking the wheel that would obstruct the movement of the gimbal.
Check out this replacement guide if the gimbal is broken and needs to be replaced.
