Asus K55VD Troubleshooting
How to diagnose common issues with the Asus K55VD laptop.
Will not startup
The laptop is unresponsive or does not start. Other components may be functioning properly but there are no beeps or lights that are emitted.
Motherboard has stopped functioning properly
The motherboard of a laptop is essential to its ability to function. If other components continue to function properly but the laptop emits no lights or beeps, consider replacing the motherboard.
Computer crashes when a software is used or emits weird noises from its system. Other symptoms include blue screen of death, corrupt files, or sudden screen freezing.
Hard drive failure
The hard drive has failed when these symptoms occur. When they happen, it's best to remove the hard drive and repair it or replace it. Make sure to save your memory when you do so.
This may come across as either an error message, sudden screen freezing, or corrupted files. Consider upgrading or replacing the RAM.
Unresponsive to input
The laptop does not respond to your inputs or keystrokes.
Keyboard is not functioning properly
Attempt to clean the keyboard first. If the issue persists, replacement of the keyboard may be needed.
Will not turn on
The laptop is completely unresponsive and will not power on.
Battery is missing or faulty
Charging cable is plugged in and the light on the adapter is on. Make sure the cable is connected to the laptop. If the laptop only powers on when it is on the charger, the battery is faulty. Replace the battery.
Battery adapter is faulty
Make sure the power adapter is plugged in and the battery light indicator is on. If the light is not on while plugged in, the adapter is faulty. Replace the adapter.
Screen is broken
Laptop appears to not turn on, but all lights work, and the fan turns on as well.
Laptop screen is cracked or burnt out
Make sure to see if other components work first. If they do, then see if there is any response from your input. If there isn't any response from the screen, check to see if there are any signs of a bad screen. If so, then replace screen.
Laptop is overheating
Fan is not functioning properly
If the laptop is overheating while other components function properly, then check the fan to see if it is functioning properly.
