been messing with computers ever since 1984. always mac..for what its worth.
ACMT in 2013.
not working at any ASP so I DONT get access to apple GSX, thats the web place that apple has decided to hide all the info about the devices. ya, if you dont work directly for an ASP or a biz that has 50 new macs..the ACMT dosnt mean 5h*t!.
sooooooooo....
ITS PRIVATEER TIME.....
sugestion for everyone that seems to have trouble with those “teeny- tiny” screws. get a magnifying, lighted jewelers headset. this will give you a better view of everything. I have NO prob with the size of any of these parts because of that. it should be a standard part of your repair arsenal if you want to do it right without straining your eyes and/or fumbling.
the adhesive is very strong and does NOT pull free. you MUST use heat (iopener) or similar to apply heat to it. go slow and when (not if) the adhesive snaps you will have to find a way to shove a spudger or an old credit card under the battery. after that, just rub your finger over the adhesive firmly and “roll” it out. this stuff is really nasty.
did NOT remove the front entirely. its not necessary to do this to remove the battery. these are only precautionary steps in case your clumsy or you feel you might not be able to manage it without. as always, be cautious.
on the left side, the markers for the 2.3mm screw and one of the 1.5mm screws are reversed. the 2.3mm screw should be on the "lower" one and the 1.5mm screw should be on "top" as pictured.
the author forgot to mention that you have to remove and reuse the rubber gasket the is attached to the orig button. a very delicate procedure as the material is very thin. be slow and extra careful. warm it up first to soften the adhesive then slowly start to peal it away. if you screw this up your done as ifixit does NOT offer this small, delicate but ESSENTIAL part.
the small connector should not be a prob. i use the apple spudger tool to lift it (to release) and push it down(lock it). it has a definite click as you push down. dont fear the apple!
