Sounds like the port and mic are the issue by what you’ve described. Is there a possibility there’s some rust in side the port at all? I can’t recall if the 2 XL is water resistent ? Judging by what you’re saying it’s probably not though.
I would say fresh format it with normal OS…I can imagine that because its a demo unit it was to prevent people from loading malicious software in via the SD Card slot.
Are there no background apps running at present? You can always do a factory reset to restore the phone back to default settings which should fix your issue…
