Not possible. The CDMA is not compatible with the GSM because they are different standars alltogether. Also, the exterior is different, because the CDMA version has no SIM slot.

You are not going to get anything of if it won't turn on! Try starting with the cheapest thing first. The battery. Then, if that doesn't work try the logic board.
Try cleaning the slot with a high percentage isopropyl alcohol. If that doesn't work, you should be able to get along just fine with the 1GB stick in it.
The logic board is most likely not detecting power. But, start with the cheapest thing first the battery. Replace it first, and if that doesn't work replace the logic board.
Put it into DFU(here's how to do it) Then restore it in iTunes. If you don't have the .ipsw file the download it from this site(here is the link) That is the most recent version for your iPod.
Put it in update mode. Here's how to do it. First,press the power and home button simultaneously. Then after about 7 seconds release the power button. It should say connect to iTunes. Then plug it into your computer and restore it. It will delete everything on the phone and put the most recent version of iOS on it. If that doesn't work try examing the connector and see if it's plugged in.
Here's what you do. Connect it to the computer. Turn it on, and press the Home button while pressing the power button. Then, let go of the home button. It should say Connect to iTunes. Then, open up iTunes and select Restore. It will delete everything, so make sure you have everything updated on your computer. Let it download and install the software. Then try it out.
