iPod Touch, 1st gen will not boot up. I allowed the battery to run down. Big mistake! After repowering it and allowing to charge overnight, Apple logo shows on display. Then, rotating hyphen shows, appears to rotate slowly - SEVERAL seconds between each "segment" lighting up. Then, after a while, screen goes black. Then Cycle repeats itself without intervention. Tried resetting (push switch & home button simultaneously) to no avail. Would be willing to try to restore, but iTunes does not recognize connection to usb port. Prior to battery becoming discharged, Touch had played music thru external amplified speakers for a few hours. Touch had been used with those speakers for over six months so it's not a matter of speakers damaging Touch. Any ideas? Will probably take to Apple store, but expect Store to be jammed with iPad interest. Not a good time for this type of failure to occur.
